For the first day of the year, I just watched Guardians of the Galaxy. And from this movie, I’ve got 4 take homes that I or we could bring for this year 2015.
Oyes! si Groot. Si Groot na walang ibang sinabi kundi “I am Groot”. Not to forget yung “We are Groot” sa bandang huli.
“I AM GROOT”
Groot knows who he is.
But don’t forget who you are. I mean, who you really are. Bago ka maging isang ________, YOU ARE A CHILD/SON/DAUGHTER OF GOD!
This has been one of the greatest reminder saken ni Lord last year. That’s it! We should be reminded that at the end of the day, anak tayo ni God. Our identity is in Jesus. eto oh…
And for me, this could mean another thing… because my identity is in Jesus, hindi ko dapat hinahayaan ang sarili at destiny ko na sulsulan at itapon sa basura ng mundo.
I don’t want you to become part of something that reduces you to less than yourself. And you can’t have it both ways, banqueting with the Master one day and slumming with demons the next.
-1 Corinthians 10:20-21, MSG
🙂 Yep, you are made for something better and greater! Kamown!
Different stories. Different backgrounds. Different purposes but at the end, they were united for one purpose. Continue surrounding yourself with those people who have same mission as you: to love and glorify Jesus. We all know the truth na kahit ikaw na ang pinakapassionate na follower ni Jesus, you cannot live your Christian life alone. We all need friends, or what we call, Spiritual Family, who will pray, encourage, correct, rebuke and tell the truth about us.
So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.
-Phillipians 2:1-2, ESV
3. YOUR PURPOSE/MISSION
To please and honor God. To make disciples. Saved to become part of other people’s salvation. Souls won for Jesus. Lives transformed. Tongue, time and treasure invested for eternity.
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
The scene where Groot sacrificed himself for his friends. Jesus is the better Groot. And we could summarized his life through this verse:
For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.
-Luke 19:10, ESV
New Year is one of His reminder to us that He has new, better and greater plans for our lives, another year to experience His faithfulness. That He’s ready to forgive and forget all the sins and mistakes that we did last year and let us still experience His unconditional love this year. In Him, lies our strength, joy, peace, confidence, purpose, meaning, identity, hope and everything that we need in this life.
Jesus began His journey when He left His home in search of us. Armed with nothing more than a passion to win your heart, He came looking. His desire was singular, to bring God’s children home.
-3:16, Max Lucado
So this year, let’s remind ourselves who our friends are, what on earth we’re here for, who we really are, whose child we are and who do we live for. 🙂
Have a Christ-centered year! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
