Before I come up to the conclusion that I’m in a cold season, I’ve learned some things from God and from other people that I need to ask to myself first.
Kamusta Devotions/Quality Time mo with God?
For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12, NIV)
At ang #1 source para malaman natin ang pagmamahal na yan ay ang Bible – the Word of God: where we can hear His voice.
Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation. Cry out for this nourishment. (1 Peter 2:2, NLT)
How about the one word called: SIN?
Kung okay naman ang devotions mo, the next question is this.
But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear. (Isaiah 59:2)
One moment in my journey with the Lord, nakahiga lang ako sa kama and I really can’t experience God, magcoconclude na sana ako na nasa cold season ako when God reminded me na kaya ko yun nararamdaman because I committed a sin. #RealTalk di ba when we are in sin or committed a sin, minsan ang #1 response ng ating katawan ay magtago o lumayo kay God just like what Adam and Eve did? Those were the moments na masasabing cold talaga ako kay God hindi dahil sa Kanya but dahil sa mga actions ko. If I keep on blaming and giving the reason to God for that cold season without checking my heart, siguro nakatanggap ako kay God nang malumanay na, “Anak, Ako na naman?” hehe.
“When God seems distant, you may feel that he is angry with you or is disciplining you for some sin. In fact, sin does disconnect us from intimate fellowship with God. We grieve God’s Spirit and quench our fellowship with him by disobedience, conflict with others, busyness, friendship with the world, and other sins.” (Rick Warren, The Purpose Driven Life Day 14)
I realized, minsan akala natin si God palagi yung nagdadala saten sa cold season pero most of the time, tayo lang talaga. So, “let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles…” (Hebrews 12:1) mahirap maglakad ng madaming bagaheng dala.
FEELINGS OVER FAITH.
“The most common mistake Christians make in worship today is seeking an experience rather than seeking God. They look for a feeling, and if it happens, they conclude that they have worshiped. Wrong! In fact, God often removes our feelings so we won’t depend on them. Seeking a feeling, even the feeling of closeness to Christ, is not worship.
When you are a baby Christian, God gives you a lot of confirming emotions and often answers the most immature, self-centered prayers-so you’ll know he exists. But as you grow in faith, he will wean you of these dependencies.
Yes, he wants you to sense his presence, but he’s more concerned that you trust him than that you feel him. Faith, not feelings, pleases God.” (Rick Warren, TPDL Day 14)
Exactly. “If I only do what I feel like doing I’m not a believer. I’m a feeler.” (Nica A.)
Sabi nga ng ating kaibigan na si Josh Wilson sa kanta niya: FAITH IS NOT A FEELING.
Then, it’s GOD.
“God admits that sometimes he hides his face from us. There are times when he appears to be MIA, missing-in-action, in your life.”
Cold Season. This is a part of our spiritual growth/maturity. When we are dead serious to seek God with all of our strength and hearts, He promised that “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13)
“Trust God to keep his promises. During times of spiritual dryness you must patiently rely on the promises of God, not your emotions, and realize that he is taking you to a deeper level of maturity. A friendship based on emotion is shallow indeed.”
If you believe that God brought you in this cold season, know that He is taking you to maturity and I encouraged you to read this:

ONLY THE ACT OF TRUE LOVE WILL THAW A FROZEN HEART. (Olaf the Snowman)
Let us always remember that in every season, God is still God and God is still good. And kahit hindi man active ang devotions mo o you committed a sin o you are distracted by your feelings than your faith, mahal ka pa rin ni Jesus! Love. Love.” nauna na si God: “I’ve never quit loving you and never will. Expect love, love and more love!” (Jeremiah 31:3, MSG)
[[all of my life, in every season, You are still God, I have a reason to sing, I have a reason to worship (till fades..)]}
